"Im kritischen Blick zurück in die Musikgeschichte findet man Frauen, die sich gegen die Zwänge ihrer Zeit durchgesetzt haben, ihre Werke aufführen konnten und ihre musikalischen Zeugnisse hinterlassen haben.

Eine dieser Frauen war die italienische Komponistin F. Caccini (1587-1640), der dieses Bläserquintett gewidmet ist und aus deren Werk „Il primo libro delle musiche“ ein Thema erklingt, das in seiner  barocken Sanglichkeit und Ausdrucksweise im Spannungsfeld mit neuen zeitgenössischen Klängen korrespondiert."

The music is fun to play and full of little technical challenges. Learning these would be a great summer project for advanced players looking for something a bit different.
